When viewing a Computer and clicking on the Hardware tab (or any tab that queries WMI data), you receive the following error:
Caller is not authorized to make this request
The System Frontier management service is denying the request because it is coming from an unknown web server and / or service account.
- Stop the System Frontier Management service.
- Open the following file in a text editor: <Install folder>\System Frontier Management Service\Authorization.xml
Note: You may need to open the text editor as administrator to avoid an “Access Denied” message when saving the file.
- Change the caller and ipAddressess values to match the IIS application pool account and IP address of your web server(s).
- Save the file.
- Start the System Frontier Management service.
The error is not related to the current user’s permissions or credentials being used to manage the target resource. It is an additional layer of security to prevent API calls from unauthorized sources. These values can become out of sync when the configuration files are moved to a new server or a step is missed during installation.
